Linda
Balzotti has served as a Brockton City Councilor for more than a
decade, providing strong constituent services, advocacy for
neighborhoods and a strong focus on fiscal restraint. A lifelong
Brocktonian, she has also served as a member of the Brockton
Planning Board and as a resident activist.
First elected as Ward 4 Councilor in 1998, Balzotti’s focus has
always been on ensuring quality of life for residents. She worked
with her colleagues on the City Council to ensure a much-needed,
multi-million dollar restoration to Brockton’s Wastewater Treatment
Plant; built a coalition of Ward 4 and East Bridgewater residents in
defeating the proposed reopening of the BFI Landfill; and fought for
the construction of the solar field on a brownfield site on Grove
Street, turning an eyesore into a neighborhood asset that is

Brockton native who attended city schools, Balzotti owns a

Balzotti is a 1979 graduate of Brockton High School and holds a

Balzotti, a World War II veteran and Betty (Spakowski) Balzotti,
retired New England Telephone Company operator, she has served as a
ward councilor, councilor-at-large, and in 2001 she was elected
Council President by her peers. She has chaired the powerful
Ordinance, Real Estate and Public Safety Committees of the Brockton
City Council and also has experience as a former legislative aide to
Rep. Christine Canavan, D-Brockton, at the Massachusetts State
House. She is employed as the Public Information Officer at
Bridgewater State College.
“I think this is such an important time in our city, and I want to
devote all of my time and energies to Brockton,” Balzotti said.
